Rules, Categories & Points
Everything you need to know about how the 2026 Utah Gravity Series works — built to be skimmable for racers on the go.
How the Series Works
- Eligible categories for series championships are Pro, Category 1, and Category 2. Category 3 (Novice) state champions are determined by 1-day results at Flyin’ Brian, June 27, 2026.
- Eligibility: to be eligible to medal in the series, you must place in at least three downhill races.
- Scoring: a racer’s best four of a possible five downhill finishes are totaled after the final race of the season (Pomerelle Sunday, August 2, 2026).
- Top 10 only: only racers finishing in the top 10 of their respective category/class receive points.
- Double-header weekends: Brian Head and Pomerelle are each 2-DH-race weekends. Full, separate points are awarded to the top 10 in each class/category for each day.
- Upgrades: USA Cycling rules regarding category upgrading are strictly followed (2026 upgrade rules apply).
- Multi-category racers: total points are applied to the category competed in the most. Tie-breaker — equal counts apply to the lower category. All points earned, regardless of category, count in the final total.

Gear up smart. Full-face helmets strongly recommended.
The Utah Gravity Series does not mandate gear, but we strongly recommend a full-face helmet for every run, practice included. Beyond that, wear as much protection as you can — knee pads, elbow pads, gloves, neck brace, body armor. Run what suits your bike, the terrain, and the day. We'd rather see you over-protected than under.
Licensing
All racers need a valid USA Cycling Annual Base Membership AND a Racing License. Buy online in advance at usacycling.org to save money — on-site purchases are cash or check only. Unlicensed Pro, Cat 1, and Cat 2 racers must buy "experienced" 1-day licenses online before the event.
