Pomerelle Pounder
The Pomerelle Pounder is the Utah Gravity Series's Idaho weekend at Pomerelle Mountain Resort — legendary in the gravity community for its fast, loamy dirt, massive features, and grassroots atmosphere. Saturday is Series Race #4 and Sunday is Series Race #5, the season finale where the 2026 Series Champions are crowned. Full, separate points are awarded to the top 10 in each category/class each day.

Welcome to Pomerelle Resort
The Utah Gravity Series welcomes you to Pomerelle Mountain Resort in Albion, Idaho. The Pomerelle Pounder features Races #4 and #5 of the 2026 Utah Gravity Series — each race counts as a separate series event and offers series points to top finishers in eligible championship categories. The two days run completely different courses, so come ready to ride them all.
Saturday — Blaze (Race #4)
Saturday's race begins at 1:30 p.m. with a 1-run competition down the "Blaze" course. It opens with an incredible start through a field of wildflowers, then a blazing descent through the woods. While not as technical as some tracks, it demands full concentration on the winding, high-speed forest section and ends with a nice drop into the finish chute.
- Start time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
- Format: a single timed run down the "Blaze" course.
- Estimated time: 3 to 4 minutes.
Sunday — Pounder & Novice (Race #5)
Sunday's race starts at 11:00 a.m. and uses two different routes. Both tracks start near the top of the chair lift, then split — Championship classes take "Pounder" while Cat 3 athletes descend the "Novice" course.
- Pounder (Championship classes): considerably more technical than both Blaze and Novice. It begins dropping down the mountain immediately, plunges over an A-line/B-line dropper, and just gets rowdier and rowdier until it bottoms out at a stream crossing — then another 1/2 mile of high-speed pedaling reels in the finish. Fast times can be sub-3-minutes, but any time under 4 minutes is great.
- Novice (Cat 3): begins by pedaling down through a high meadow into multiple long sections of rippin', wooded single track to the finish. It's still a challenge, but much less technical than the other two courses — a great track to cut your teeth on if you're new to DH racing.
- Start time: 11:00 a.m. Sunday.
Lift & Practice
All three courses will be ready for inspection from Saturday morning on. This is a special weekend at Pomerelle — the lift runs early on Friday, July 31 from 3 to 6 p.m., and Saturday's Blaze course will be open and ready for inspection that Friday afternoon when the lift opens.
Practice is open on both Saturday and Sunday until 30 minutes prior to each day's race start. The lift starts loading at 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Lift fees are NOT included in your entry fee — you must purchase a lift pass for each day you plan to ride the lift. Passes are available at the Pomerelle ticket office. Non-racers can also purchase lift tickets and ride the trails (not during the races).

USA Cycling Requirements
A USA Cycling annual base membership is required in addition to a racing license. The base membership is $40 online at www.usacycling.org, or $50 if purchased at the event. All annual licenses are valid for 1 year from the purchase date.
A valid USA Cycling racing license is also required. Buy online in advance at usacycling.org to save money — on-site purchases are cash or check only.

Plan Your Visit
Camping & Lodging
Camping is a fun tradition at the Pounder — pitch a tent or park a self-contained RV in one of the resort lots. The lower lot at the base gets rowdy with evening activity, while the quieter upper lot (about a mile up the road) is accessible from the top of the lift on your bike. Forest Service campsites are nearby at Bennett Springs, Thompson Flat, Twin Lakes, and Cleveland Lake.
It's about 35 miles to the nearest lodging, so plan on a camp-out weekend — and mind any open-fire restrictions and pack out all that you pack in. Prefer a bed? There's a special deal from our partner property in Burley, plus more area lodging nearby.
The Venue
The Pomerelle Resort Lodge is "Event Central" for the Pounder — restrooms, the ticket office, race registration, the chair lift, the finish line, the race pit, and preferred spectator areas are all here. All event parking is at the base near the lodge.
The resort kitchen and dining area is open from Friday afternoon until after Sunday's race, with breakfast and lunch from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Scenic lift passes for foot passengers are open to the public.
Explore Nearby
The town of Albion sits about 12 miles below the resort with a convenience store and a couple of restaurants. Just up the road, Lake Cleveland is an athlete post-race favorite for swimming, paddleboarding, and fishing.
About 30 miles south, City of Rocks National Reserve is widely known for its unique rock formations and world-class rock climbing.
